Product Spotlight: Insert Nuts

Insert nut is a fastener that provides a threaded socket when hammered or screwed into, typically, a wooden surface. They bite firmly into the wood from the inside ensuring strong resistance against pull out. It provides a strong permanent thread ideal for a variety of applications. One of the biggest advantages of an insert nut is that it can be installed into a work surface from one side, unlike similar fasteners that may require tightening up from the opposite side.

Insert nuts are divided into 2 key categories: screw-in type and hammer-in type. Screw-in insert nuts have a thread on the outside which allows them to be screwed into a pre-drilled hole using an Allen wrench. Hammer-in (or knock-in) insert nuts on the other hand instead of external thread have a barbed body which serves the same purpose but make them easier to install by hammering into the surface.
